Shade of the Summer

Hi guys!
Again I apologise for the lack of posting, but it's half term now, so a week away from exams, hooray!!!

I have found the perfect lipstick shade for the summer, it's Kate Moss' new lipstick collection for Rimmel- Lasting Finish lipstick shade 16.

I quite like packaging, it's simple and sleek, I think Kate's signature on it is really cute!

The shade is absolutely gorgeous, it's a cross between a coral and a pink, it's so summery and not too 'out there' . The lipstick is called 'lasting finish' I don't think it lasts any longer that a normal lipstick but it has a matt finish so it kind of dries on your lips and doesn't move or smudge.

It's currently on special offer in Boots for £3.99 but I had to pay full price (£5.49) in Superdrug because it was sold out in boots, but it was worth because I LOVE this shade!

so what's your shade for the summer?

ELF haul!

Hello my lovely followers!

I ordered a few things from elf so I thought I'd let you know what I bought!
Elf studio powder brush
hypershine lip gloss in bubblegum
elf studio flawless finish foundation in porcelain
elf studio warm bronzer

Overall I'm really happy with what I ordered, I'll give a quick break down of my thoughts about each product:
Elf studio powder brush:
PROS:
  • SUPER soft
  • It hasn't started shedding yet
  • great for power or liquid foundation
  • gives you that "flawless" finish
CONS:
  • slightly large if you want to use it put blusher on ect.

Hypershine lip gloss in bubblegum:
PROS:
  • good for a natural look
CONS:
  • Too sticky
  • have to put quite a lot on to make it  noticeable
  • Barley any colour
  • Doesn't live up to it's "Hypershine" name
elf studio flawless finish foundation in porcelain
PROS:
  • great colour match
  • good coverage
  • pump lid to control the amount
  • not patchy
  • lasts a full day
  • FANTASTIC!
CONS:
  • can be slightly shiny so it's best to put power over the top
elf studio warm bronzer
PROS:
  • good colours
  • great for contoring
  • slightly shimmery
  • mirror
CONS:
  • I can't really think of any a minor one would be, when trying to pick up all the colours the lighter shades can get a bit muddy

I hope that was helpful! have you tried any elf products?

Review: MUA out there plumping lipgloss

hello!

I have to say that I really like this lipgloss first of all the shade is exactly what I've been looking for- it a baby pink that's not too pale or too bright, it's somewhere in the middle! The shade is called Candy Pink.

This type of gloss seems to be different from others have used before, it's not really glossy, it's almost creamy in appearance, other lipglosses seem to be quite transparent whereas the colour of this lip gloss is more coloured. (it's quite hard to explain)

As for "plumping" I'm not too sure, I haven't noticed any difference and there's no tingly sensation you get with other plumping glosses, but I prefer it without the sensation.

It lasts as long as any normal lip gloss around and hour or 2. I think this is a great lipgloss and for only £2 is an absolute steal!

Not so sure about...Lancome hypnose drama

I'm so sorry, I've been scuh a bad blogger i haven't written a post in months!

For christmas I got Lancome's hypnose drama mascara in excessive black, I was quite excited about it but I was slightly disappointed.

The brush in real life looks nothing like the one on the website, how can this even be allowed?!
link

The brush on the website looks
soft and very over sized whereas
in reality it's not.

I think I've finally mastered how to use this brush- less is more. I like my lashes to look feathery and separated, but there is so much mascara on the brush this is very hard to do. when I first got it I was trying to separate my lashes with the longer bristles like it suggests but this just load a tonne of mascara on my lashes. So the trick is to be quick you literally need to do like 2 strokes.

So are there any positives?

YES, of course! Although this mascara can be a bit tricky once you get the hang of it it's great! It lifts your lashes and the curl does hold throughout the day. It's also really great for bottom lashes, it makes the super long as well as your top lashes.

The mascara leaves your lashes felling soft so it doesn't flake  down your face, I hate crispy mascaras!

If you like really thick lashes then it really does build them up, that's great for an evening look.

Minx nail foils

I'm going to be reviewing Minx professional golden fish scales by Lisa Logan, you can get these nails done professional in a salon but I tried them out at home!

It was my first time applying nail foils and I think it went quite well!
First of all I love the pattern the gold is reflective and I'd say it's quite a 'classic' look.

I only used 4  nail foils as I wanted to save them, so I painted the rest of my nails gold.

They are relatively easy to apply, you heat them up with a hair dryer stick them on your nail heat it again and smooth it out, you're supposed to fold the end over and file it down but i found it easier to cut them down then file.

All the foils were way too wide for nails and i didn't realise this when applying my first one so it went over on to my skin so then i had to try and cut it down whilst it was on my nail (wouldn't recommend doing that!) But this is all about practise so for my next one I cut it before applying it to my nail, which went a lot better!

Although I'm not allowed to wear nail varnish to school (I got so many compliments about them)I left one on each finger and I still have them on and it's been a week now- super long lasting. The other 2 Itook off to see how easy they were to take off, it's soooo easy they just peel straight off!

I would definitely use them again it's ashame they didn't fit my nails properly, although that canbe fixed it's just a bit more time consuming.

Has anyone else had any experience with nail foils?

MY GIVEAWAY HAS NOW CLOSED - there's been a bit of a hiccup with picking the winner but I will let you know asap
